High end bike in its day. Cipollini and the Saeco squad were the first to ride these, and won big at the Giro in 1997 with Ivan Gotti (Cipollini won the sprinter's jersey).
This was the first win by a "non-steel" bike in a grand tour, and opened the door to the short lived aluminum era, succeeded by carbon fiber in '99 when Armstrong won the Tour on a Trek.

Yes, a replica but the frame is nearly identical to the Saeco bikes raced professionally. It was made in the (now closed) Cannondale factory in Bedford, PA. The only difference was that the Saeco team members had some choice as to bike geometry. Their bikes were made separately, but of the same materials, by the same people and using the same equipment. Some of the Saeco team members objected to racing on aluminum (new back then), but Cipolinni famously said: "Cannondale, great bike." That settled it. He was a ferocious sprinter and loved the stiffness of the frame.
